Homeschool Math Classes Questions and tutoring questions

Homeschool Classes FAQ

1. Are your Homeschool Classes one on one or groups?

Our Homeschool Classes are groups, typically 3-6 students.

Sign up for one-on-one lessons, book here. Select high school or middle school and then let us know that you’re looking for a one-on-one homeschool class!

2. The Class is only listed for one date, am I registering for the whole year or just one class?

Registrations cover the whole year. We will send you a class schedule over the summer with exact dates. It will be weekly at the same time, excluding regular school holidays.

3. What resources do I need for this Homeschool class?

If you need a book or other resources for the class, those will be communicated by June 15th along with your class schedule.

4. How long is each lesson?

Each lesson is 1.5 hrs long and will cover new material while also having time for questions and reviewing old concepts. It also gives parents time to swing by Target for some errands or Hold Fast Coffee for some you time! Both are only about 3 minutes away.

5. What if after the first lesson, I decide it’s not a good fit for us?

Our registration cost covers the first 2 lessons and there is no penalty for cancelling prior to the third lesson.

6. My student had a hard time in public school, what makes this different?

At Elevate STEM Tutoring we prioritize a peaceful environment and making learning fun. Neuroscience shows that brains in an stress-free state (especially when engaged in fun/play) has much higher retention and ability to grasp complex ideas. We incorporate this into our classes. Students will have the opportunity to learn in a hands one way when possible.

We believe mistakes and asking questions are fantastic ways to learn and help students build confidence by reframing mistakes as a positive part of the learning process.

We also believe verbalizing concepts can be a great way to solidify concepts, so students will have the opportunity to teach and learn from each other. This can help create a collaborative environment where students are encouraging and uplifting towards one another.

6. My student has a learning difference, will your class accommodate them?

Yes, we can accommodate students with a variety of needs including ADHD, Dyscalculia, Autism and other learning differences. While many students with these diagnoses will be able to thrive in our classes, depending on the students needs we may recommend one-on-one lessons instead of our classes. We approach each student as a unique individual and always consider this case by case based one what is best for our student’s learning and confidence!
